A
real muscle hole. The drive demands distance and accuracy as there
is water (a 200 yard carry from the championship tees) as well as a large Rock
Maple at 290 yards that can easily mask the second shot of anyone who hits it
left. The two deep pot bunkers further along the hole on the right are rivetted,
i.e. their faces are sod-stacked in a fashion that is similar to many of the famous
British Links courses such as St.Andrews, Turnburry, and Royal Birkdale. Although
they were positioned in such a way as to not come into play much, they neverless
create the illusion of a dominant threat. Beyond these bunkers, the fairway opens
up but is protected by an ancient wall on the left, and two specimen hemlocks
on the right. The green is a challenge as well, as it is very well protected on
the right by a nest of six pot bunkers.
